Anybody know why the YouTube embed links don’t seem to be working on efx3.com? At least they don’t on the post I just finished and posted. I don’t want to mess with all the extra work to include normal links right now. I’ll tackle that when I get more time, if there isn’t any other solution.

Hehe, I just made a post with a youtube video embedded, they work fine ;p

When you’re writing the post, click the ’html’ tab (by default you’re in the ’visual’ tab when writing into the new post box) and paste the embed code there. Then click back to the visual tab and you’ll see the box where your embedded video will appear.

I always use the HTML tab when I write a post, because I copy/paste my photo links there. All the photo links on this post worked perfectly. The Youtube links don’t.

Not only that, but all the embed coding I entered before was gone when I opened it to edit the post. So I copied the embed code again for one or two of the links, then went to ”visual.” Yes, the yellow boxes were there. But when I hit ”preview changes”, the videos didn’t show. I hit Update, to save what I had done. But when I checked, there was no video on the page, and when I went back to Edit Post HTML tab, the embed coding was again missing, Can’t figure it out!

That’s peculiar. I just made a test post on my blog – embedded a youtube video in the html tab, hit preview and it showed up, went back to the post-writing page and the code was still there. Are you using the embed code provided by youtube when you click on the embed link, that begins with ’object’?

Try making a blog post that has nothing in it but one of the videos you’re trying to embed, and see if that works. If it does, then possibly there’s some conflict going on with the youtube code and your picture code – if the code below a certain point is vanishing then maybe there’s some incomplete code earlier on in the post; a missing tag or something.

If it still doesn’t work, leave the draft post there and I’ll go into the backend and have a look at the content in your post window. :)

OK, I just prepared two drafts, which were saved as drafts. One was not previewed (because that seems to be the point where things start gong wrong).

Feel free to enter through the back door and look it over.

As I said in the first draft, I am certainly not ruling out ”operator error.” But it worked at the other site, so why not here? That’s the part I don’t understand. As if I understand everything.

Major weirdness. I didn’t see any embedded video in either post. So I went to youtube, grabbed a random video, plonked it in your ’draft 2’, previewed it – fine – saved as draft – fine – and as far as I’m aware it’s still in there. Go have a look?

Done some googling and I think wordpress have possibly changed some role (author/editor/admin, etc) settings – which explains why I can embed fine, as an admin, but you, as a user, can’t. Rusty’s looking in the code settings now to verify and change it. :)

Update – Rusty’s fixed it I think, try making your post now :)
